We’re definitely in the final stretches of pre-baby life. They say baby now weighs almost 6 pounds (like a crenshaw melon) and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. I’m thinking they’re getting pretty creative with fruits at this point!
Good news is that she’s already in proper position for the birth. Our midwife mentioned again yesterday that we’re going to have a rambunctious baby, which I can attest to already. Annoying news is that I’m to up my protein to 100 + grams a day for the next month, which is turning out to be absolutely agonizing…
We’re at 30 weeks now – 7 months! Baby is about 16 inches long now, and she weighs almost 3 pounds (like a head of cabbage).
Almost there! This definitely feels like the home stretch, as we’re in full clumsy, no-night sleeping swing (I am fighting hard against the waddle walk)! Ray is working hard at painting the baby room so we can start putting everything together.
Coming up: Ray and I have our birthing class this weekend and I’m hoping to post pictures from the family shower this past weekend soon. Here’s a sneak peak from Mom (everyone else – please send me your pictures and I’ll post them. I only had the video camera that day).
28 Weeks – we’re officially in the third trimester. This week was all about long walks, delicious meals with family and friends, precious bits of slumber, and carrying around a baby that’s as heavy as a Chinese cabbage.
We learned this week that baby has a growing sense of self these days is now able to dance to the rhythm of music. Boy does she enjoy putting on evening dancing shows for us – this girl knows how to make a tummy move! Dad, both our Moms and Grandma all had front row seats (and feels) of the show this past weekend during our belated Christmas celebration. This girl likes attention!
Finished the book Natural Childbirth which is the best book I’ve read so far about the art of having babies. Next stop, visit with the midwife tomorrow.
One of my New Years resolutions is to be better about keeping in shape, especially with the big day only 3 months away now. To this end, I finally weighed myself on the wii fit only to find that it now considers me overweight! I’m a reasonable girl, but you’re skating on thin ice, wii. Thin, thin ice.
I’m consoled by the thought that at least a couple pounds of this is our rapidly growing baby, now about the weight of a head of cauliflower.
Also discovered the weightless joy of swimming this week, which makes our upcoming Hawaii trip sound even more delightful.
Here’s to a fabulous new year…
What an incredibly beautiful, snowy week it has been! Little baby B is growing – now as long as an English cucumber.
Apparently, she can hear us now and has just this week opened her eyes. What a view that must be. I think I’ll stick to the snow!
These days, I’m fairly certain we have a budding ballerina or square dancer brewing. Wow, she’s getting bigger! Now the size of (but surely much more attractive than)…a rutabaga!
Understatement of the week (from my weekly baby update):
You may also notice that you can’t move around as gracefully as before.
